Biznalyst works best when your purchase data is clean, structured, and up to date. This guide explains how to connect your data—either by linking your Shopify store or by uploading a CSV file—and what to expect after setup.

Supported Data Sources
Biznalyst currently supports two ways to bring in transaction-level purchase data:
Shopify (recommended for Shopify merchants)
CSV uploads (for all other platforms or custom systems)
Both methods populate your workspace with the purchase-level details needed for revenue, churn, LTV, trends, and lifecycle analyses.
2. Using Shopify as Your Data Source
If your business runs on Shopify, you can connect your store securely in a few clicks.
How it works:
Choose Shopify as the data source.
Click Connect to Shopify and follow the authentication steps.
Once connected, Biznalyst handles the data structure automatically—no formatting or column mapping required.
Historical data sync:
You can choose how far back you want the initial sync to go (e.g., last 6 months, last year, full history).
Biznalyst imports order-level data for that period and creates your transaction dataset.
Ongoing sync:
After the initial import, your Shopify data is synced once a day automatically.
Any new orders, customers, and updates will appear in your workspace without manual action.
3. Uploading CSV Data
If you are not using Shopify or prefer manual uploads, you can bring in your data using a CSV file.
Required format:Your CSV must include the following fields:
purchase_date
order_id
customer_id
purchase_amount
Sample file:A downloadable sample CSV is provided in the interface. Use it to ensure your file structure, column names, and formats align with Biznalyst requirements.
Uploading your file:
Select CSV as the data source.
Review the required fields and verify your file matches the structure.
Drag and drop your file or browse to select it.
Click Upload and Attach to Workspace to complete the import.
Once uploaded, Biznalyst will show a preview of your data, along with the record count and last updated timestamp.
4. Data Validation & Currency
You can select your workspace currency during setup.
Biznalyst validates the uploaded file or synced Shopify data automatically to ensure all required fields are present and correctly formatted.
5. After Your Data Is Connected
Once your initial data source is attached:
Your workspace becomes fully analyzable—revenue, churn, LTV, cohort, and lifecycle tools will use this dataset.
You can revisit the Data tab at any time to review your data source, preview records, or replace the CSV if needed.
For Shopify users, daily data refresh happens automatically.
