A quick guide to asking the right questions and turning answers into documents
Step 1: Start With a Clear Question
The Biznalyst agent works best when you ask questions in plain business language.
You don’t need to know which analysis or tool to run—just state what you want to understand.
Examples:
“How was revenue performance last quarter?”
“Measure churn in Q4 2025.”
“Break down revenue by lifecycle segments.”
The agent will interpret your intent, run the appropriate analysis, and return a structured response.
Step 2: Choose the Level of Detail You Want
You can guide the response format directly through your prompt.
For quick answers, keep the prompt short:
“Measure churn last month.”
For deeper analysis, ask explicitly:
“Explain the drivers of churn last month in detail.”
“Give a detailed breakdown of revenue by lifecycle segment.”
Biznalyst also provides a Prompt Library with ready-made prompts for common use cases such as revenue measurement, churn, lifecycle analysis, and planning.
Step 3: Read and Explore the Agent’s Response
Agent responses are shown in Markdown format, making them easy to scan and understand.
Responses may include:
Headings and summaries
Tables with key metrics
Charts for visual context
If something isn’t clear, ask follow-up questions. You can ask the agent to:
Explain the methodology used
Clarify formulas or calculations
Explain why a metric moved up or down
Step 4: Add Insights to a Document
When an analysis is useful, click “Add to Document” to save it.
Documents help you:
Visualize responses in a cleaner, report-style format
Build a continuous record of your analyses
Combine multiple analyses into a single narrative
You can resize the Chat and Document panels independently for comfortable reading and editing.
Step 5: Build a Continuous Analysis Trail
Documents in Biznalyst are living artifacts.
A typical flow might look like:
Ask a question in chat
Add the response to a document
Ask follow-up questions
Add refined insights to the same document
Over time, documents become complete analysis records—useful for reviews, planning, and sharing with stakeholders.
Step 6: Run Tools Directly (Optional)
If you want more control, you can run Biznalyst tools yourself by providing required inputs such as date ranges.
After running a tool:
Review the tables and charts
Ask the agent to summarize or interpret the results
This approach is helpful when validating assumptions or exploring specific scenarios.
Step 7: Understand Charts and Visuals
Some responses include charts to provide visual context.
While the agent cannot read charts directly, it understands:
What the chart represents
How the underlying metrics are calculated
If you describe what you see in a chart, the agent can help interpret the pattern and suggest next steps.
Step 8: Export and Share
Once your document is ready, you can export it as a PDF.
This makes it easy to:
Share insights with stakeholders
Upload reports to internal repositories
Use analyses in reviews and presentations
Key Takeaway
Think of the Biznalyst agent as an analytical collaborator:
Ask questions in business terms
Save important insights to documents
Use follow-ups to deepen understanding
This workflow helps you move from raw data to clear, shareable insights—without switching tools or writing SQL.
